Regardless of age, experiencing pain of any kind is not normal. But you don’t have to live with it! Many do not realize that physical therapists are not only well equipped to treat pain, but also its source.

Make your daily tasks and activities easier on yourself, if you are experiencing any of the below – it may be time to see a physical therapist:

1. Intense Pain Three Days Post Injury – Immediately following an injury, it’s best to take a few days of rest – icing the affected area. If pain does not subside after several days, it’s time to see a physical therapist.

2. Lingering Pain – Most injuries can be cured by rest and icing, however more serious ones will have reoccurring dull pain until the underlying issue has been addressed. As this can worsen over time, it’s important to work with a physical therapist to prevent future problems and also ease your daily discomfort.

3. You Work a Desk Job – Sitting all day puts you at heightened risk for neck and back pain, especially if you sit with poor posture. People who sit more are at a greater risk for herniated disks, lower back pain, and permanent muscular imbalances in the neck and shoulders. By working with a physical therapist, you will receive a personalized treatment plan and instructions on how you can create a more ergonomic workspace.
