Posted on June 22nd, 2021 by Orthopaedic Specialty Group

No two bodies are alike, but every body is amazing! So many people continue to feel insecure about their body, which can hurt both your physical and mental health. If you’re one of these people, it’s time for a change. We know it’s easier said than done, but we want to help you on your self-love journey with these five tips:

Change Your Mindset

If you constantly wish you looked like someone else, or all you can focus on are your perceived bodily flaws, stop! Before you can truly learn to love your body, it’s important to stop yourself when you have these thoughts and shift your focus to all the reasons why your body is unique and amazing; and there’s a lot of them!

Learn to Not Judge Others

To learn how to love your body, you also need to learn to stop judging other people for the way they look. When you think about and criticize others for their bodies, you send the message to yourself and others that a person’s value is measured based on the way they look. This isn’t true, and everyone, including yourself, deserves to be accepted regardless of your body shape.

Cleanse Your Social Media

Make your social media feeds not only reflects what you want to see but what you need to see. Unfollow any pages that share content that make you feel insecure about yourself and how you look. It’s not worth it! Instead, search for people and accounts that post people who have similar body types and look like you. There’s plenty of great pages out there for you to follow and interact with that will make you feel good about who you are.

Get To Know Your Body

To love your body, you need to know your body first. There are so many areas that you may not have taken the time to explore, understand, and enjoy. There is so much about you that is unique, and to start loving each area of your body, you need to be familiar with it!

Practice Gratitude

Your body is capable of so much! It’s helpful to think about all that your body does every day to keep you healthy and breathing to enjoy another day. When you see your body as more than just appearances, but rather be thankful for all it does, your mindset will change.
